I was born as the youngest of 3 kids and grew up in the
sprawling metropolis dorpie of Boksburg in Gauteng. Being the baby of the family, I never attempted to learn cooking, cleaning or anything useful. I did, however, have a Std 2 teacher tell me that I have a talent for writing stories and that I should carry on. That stuck with me.
I studied fashion design after school, the only trouble being, I am not particularly interested in fashion. I am the complete opposite of fashionable. Anti-fashionable. I’ve managed to make good use of the sewing skills, but as a career? Heck no.
I’m delighted to say that my Std 2 teacher seems to have been right, as I’ve managed to keep up a good stream of freelance writing work since 2004, and have just had my first novel, Finding Mia, published by Harbourlight / Pelican Book Group.
